Theme: Promote easy, convenient SUMMER meal ideas
This summer, we did the grillin on a new Broil King Imperial with 2 lids. Great choice since we were grillin Dr. Oetker pizza on one side and Northern Ontario Rainbow Trout! We also toasted Rudolph's Bavarian Multigrain Rye bread to make the quickest, tastiest garlic bread ever. Everyone loved Rainbow Trout and Dr. Oetker pizza grilled. We topped off our Best of Summer Grillin n Chillin with two salads from ET TU: Caesar and their new Southwest Ranch – great for cottagers, boaters or campers!

- Event:DriveAway with Breakfast!
Dates:June 1 to June 30, 2009
No. Days:26
Banner:Longo's
Theme: Promote making breakfast at home
Cutting back on air pollution caused by idling cars and thinner wallets caused by a idling economy inspired this sampling program designed to encourage consumers to make their breakfast at home and 'driveaway' with it – rather than drive thru for it. To create a visual connection and be a little tongue-in-cheek, we made our sampling trailer look like a drivethru window. The money saved and emissions eliminated made this a well-received sampling program. We were even on Breakfast TV, Toronto's top-rated breakfast program. We made a tasty, convenient – and mobile – breakfast featuring these products: Bob Evans Breakfast sausages, Oakrun Farm Bakery Healthy Start Multigrain english muffins, Black Diamond Cheddar cheese, Astro Maximmunite Probiotic drink, California Cherries and Tree Fruit.

We featured ET TU Caesar salad, the perfect cottage salad. We offered ideas of how to make burgers healthier by sampling Yves Veggie Burgers, and lastly, we topped it off with the healthiest, tastiest, most nutritious fruit: Zespri Kiwifruit! Speaking of smart, we featured a bread made with unrefined flour, no added sugar and no trans fats - Rudolph's Bayerishe bread: that's a smart choice! We also cooked Dainty TimeWise Whole Grain rice, a 'smart' carb and quick, too, as it's ready in 15 minutes. To complete a nice tasty, nutritious and healthy meal, we made salads using Renee's Vinaigrettes and Dressings, some of which were Gluten-Free, trans fat-free, and preservative-free - all good reasons to buy Renee's. The Best of Summer Grillin n Chillin features some great summer fare! We grilled US Farm Raised Catfish, also considered one of the Best Choices on the National Seafood Guide, a perfect fish for grillin' as it stays firm. It's perfect for the non-fish lovers in the house as it's low odour. Our catfish was made even more popular by brushing on some Renee's Gourmet Sauces and Vinaigrettes. We made some great summer salads with Renee's Dressings and Vinaigrettes, and tossed in California Grown nectarines, peaches and plums. We even grilled the California Grown tree fruit - it was great! For a healthy treat, we mixed Astro BioBest Omega 3 yogurt with TrueBlue Blueberry juice for a smoothy everyone loved. For a real treat, we topped the grilled fruit with Gaylea Chocolate Whipped Cream!

The Best of Summer
Summer 2005 saw the first Best of Summer outdoor cooking demonstration and sampling program. It ran outside the main entrances of participating Longo's stores. Our aim was to attract customers as they walked into the stores with music, a strong visual and engaging presentation, and entertain them with a script created to inform them as we prepared a plate showcasing the best of summer. It was a tremendous success, spurring sales increases of up to 1100%!
The program ran from 10 AM to 6PM, and gave shoppers a diversion from their day, as they stop, see how to make a tasty burger, Caesar salad, a tasty side dish and so on.
